...the most important building in Wrocław (PL), since 2006 on UNESCO World Heritage List. When in January began a major renovation of Hall - to restore its original shape consistent with the architectural design of Max Berg - we started work on replacing it in a musical instrument.
 

 

 
Centennial Hall will be so far the longest edition of Music 4 Buildings: a recording and design studies are scheduled from January to September. The last phase of field recordings - first public events there - will finish during the European Cultural Congress, with public appearances of Brian Eno and Heinrich Goebbels.
Up to this point we will collect sounds of all relevant interventions in the industrial structure of the object, as well as specific ambients of consecutive stages this crazy reconstruction (from heavy equipment armaggedon, to the soft noise of drying paints...)
 

 
M4B Vol.04 release date is around late autumn 2011, created with the assistance of the City of Wrocław, Wrocławskie Przedsiebiorstwo Hala Ludowa and the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA).

UNDERGROUND CITY
For many reasons, Rzeszow`s part of M4B was premiere: the first time, improvising without seeing each other - inside about 200 meters of medieval passageways, provided only with mixers, instruments, microphones and headphones; the atmosphere of the place and more than five kilometers of cables joined us..
For the first time we played hidden from the audience, gathered on the Rzeszow`s market.
For the first time we played with invited guests - Kyiv-based group Dakha Brakha and electronic scene artist Zavoloka.
For the first time our improvisation was accompanied by a visual live-mix - by amazing VJ CUBE Group from IvanoFrankivsk. Over all, in the last part of the song appeared Yuri Andrukhovych, reading his poem "India."
All that took place in Rzeszow after midnight August 13. City underground music released on the night flew with the force of a giant PA...

Production: Hermetic Garage Foundation and the National Cultural Centre. M4B took place within the project ART.BOX AU / GB - during the inauguration of the European Cultural Stadium (ESK).

From 16 to 19 june we`ll work for and -with buildings of city Białystok, PL. The choise of concrete object will take a place till the end of may, after our sound-pre-exploration. In preparation is also a radio broadcast of our final concert-work (by Polskie Radio Bialystok).

Sound exploring and field recordings -thats our base for further modifications. Probably -especially for this edition of M4B- we will try to make a kind of sound-transfer between two or three architectural objects. More details coming soon, please be patient! :)

ART BOOK MUSEUM, ŁÓDŹ
Special edition M4B - for X Open Exhibition Festival. 28th May, in dusk, we`ll play in Grohman Villa Ballroom, together with old typographic machines - part of museum collection (by jadwiga and Janusz Paweł Tryzno). Transmition from underground workshop will be our base to improvise.  In creative music-travelling around these structures will assist us Qbas Kwasniewski (Zero-85, HAL) and Darek Adryanczyk (ex-Moskwa). The whole performance will be mixed live and recorded (ready-to-publish limited edition CD). Welcome to Lodz, ul Tymienieckiego 24.

(...) the third part of M4B already at the implementation stage!
In June 2010 we carried out field recordings in Neolithic tombs on Orkney Islands. We visited three different objects: famous Maes Howe which is the biggest one (with our guide?s unique commentary), a fairylike burial mound Unstan as well as an intimate, ?domestic? subterranean burial corridor Rennibister Earth House.›››
 
In August the collected material underwent a process of selection and, as a consequence, 1.5 GB of the most interesting samples were chosen. Editing and compositional works lasted till mid-September resulting in three compositions.
 
Now we are preparing for a recording session of the adaptive stage, and for the production of a new Music 4 Buildings album; this time we will be moved in time and space (five thousand years + two thousand kilometers) thanks to stones, deaf slabs of mossy slates and hundreds of tons of the ground over the heads.

... Great Synagogue Drokhobych. Time is our treasure, so we`re published this material in same week.. Recorded during our night concert in Drokhobych, this CD is a proof, that its possibly to play music with building - however also important is to save a fact of first use a Spider Sistem.

GREAT SYNAGOGUE DROKHOBYCH - one of the largest synagogue in Central Europe. Founded in 1842, now in ruins but slowly renewed. Historically, furniture shop and warehouse goods and during 2WW it was salt store...
Exactly there, type of our work will be a site-specific - everything will be done in this area, recordings and concert - all in the synagogue interior. it will be first live act of M4B, a kind of public debut. More...

Work in collaboration with Association of Bruno Schulz, Lublin (PL) and IV International Festival of Bruno Schulz in Drokhobych (UA). Our work is supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.

Mastering works of recordings from GOP are almost at finish.
Our first CD will be published by our label << Hermetic Garage, and - as VIRTUAL CD version, ready to download from this site. Now, You can see first cover front (for digipack; it will be little bit different in Virtual version). M4B/GOP - coming soon, 2010. :)

Meanwhile, Łukasz FLD Folda finishes writing his essay-reportage about our actions in Szombierki Powerstation and Guido Mine. This text is planned for publication in one of cultural weekly-magasines. And - of course little bit late - at our site.
