GREAT SYNAGOGUE DROKHOBYCH A.K.A. CHORAL
is the largest synagogue of west Ukraine and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe.

(source:wikipedia) The synagogue was built between 1842-1865. In a place where established, has already small wooden synagogue, which burned in a fire in 1713. During World War II, when German troops marched into the city, the synagogue was vandalized and used for salt storage.

After the war, it was a furniture shop. For decades, the building underwent a systematic degradation and was not renovated. In the early 90s last century, the synagogue was returned to the local Jewish community, but this did not protect it from further destruction.
